[Character Sheet]

[*] Image Requirements
  • [1] Colored Full Body of your character (includes feet) in any pose you prefer.
  • [1] Character Signature
  • [1] Colored image of either [a] Gijinka/Anthro character's alternate animal form, [b] Character's familiar, OR [c] If your character has neither, use it to highlight alternate clothing, magnify character's face or special skill of your character

[*] Creation Requirements
  • Characters must have original names, regardless of which tale they are based on. Including characters like "Rapunzel" or "Rumplestiltskin," where their name is an important aspect of the story.
    • For characters like "Rapunzel," the original name should act as a title like "Princess." Your character would be welcome to use it (Rapunzel) as a nickname, but must have a separate "real" name. For "Rumplestiltskin," it is not the name itself that is important in the original tale but the uniqueness/complexity of it. Thus, you could have a character named "Theofitzgeraldenick" and still keep the flavor of the original.
  • Characters based on the same tale as someone else (including mods) are welcome. However, you must have a unique character name and change the character bg/personality/skills in some way. We recommend changing as much as you can of the original tales, and make them your own so that you don't end up applying with the exact same thing as someone else.
  • If you want your character to come from same place as another character, (make sure you get their permission) the "Country" name must be the same.
    • [Example] My friend and I want our characters to be the princesses of allied kingdoms. My character's kingdom's name is Sarzia. Her character's kingdom's name is Reluzia. Instead of putting "Sarzia" and "Reluzia" under "Country" on the character sheet, I will put the name of the world they come from, so we made up a 3rd name "Everilia."
  • Character must have a human or mostly human form.
    • Your character can be an animal (many fairy tales have animals as major characters). But if your character is an animal, please draw them in their "human/gijinka" form (with a human face and mostly human body) and then draw them separately in their animal form.
    • [Example] In the tale of the "Golden Bird," one of the side characters is a fox who continuously helps the main character in his quest to obtain the Golden Bird his father requires. You are welcome to use that fox as your character
  • Characters can possess almost any skill or ability, BUT it must make sense for them to have within the confines of their story and background.
    • You are allowed up to 3 fully magical skills. However, please use good judgment; we will not accept over-powered or unbalanced characters.
    • [Examples] Sorcery, elemental control, ability to speak with animals, ability to fly, to transform into an animal, mythical creature or giant, get flashes of the future, etc. are all allowed.
    • We will also not accept characters that are deities/gods/immortals/angels/etc. However, characters with wings, have the job of "killing people" or have been personified as deities despite not actually being one is acceptable in most situations.
  • Character's alternate form can be almost anything. He/she can even transform into a different person.
    • Not Allowed: Transformation into a ghost, existing character, getting a sex-change. Please double-check with us if you are unsure!
  • Character's familiar can be almost any sentient being/spirit/thing (but cannot be another character).
    • A familiar is basically something/creature that has a special connection with your character. Your character can usually communicate with it, summon it, etc.
  • Character cannot have both an Alternate form and a Familiar.
  • Character cannot have more than ONE alternate form.

[Character Background]

  • [Name] Last name not required.
  • [Title] *If Applicable* Include all/any titles
  • [Gender]
  • [Race] Most characters should be human or animal that ages normally, but you can try to apply as a mythical creature/magical species. We would prefer to keep those at a minimum.
  • [Age] Your character can be over 100 years old, but please remember to use good judgment and give a reason for that in their story. Characters cannot be immortal.
  • [Date of Birth] *Optional* You don't have to include the year if you fill this out.
  • [Country] Name of the place (could be country, continent, kingdom, world, area, whatever) your character is from. Be creative!
  • [Job] What your character does. This could also be your character's social status or class.
  • [Skills] Elaborate on the three skills which you put on your Character Sheet and feel free to put any additional, minor skills, that you would like to mention. Remember that you cannot have more than 3 magical skills. Remember that a balanced character is the key!
  • [Original Story] If your character is based on an existing tale, please put the full name of the tale and a link to the story. If it is an original story, put "Original Fairytale."
  • [Personality] A few personality traits.
  • [Story] Your character’s history. Please find a way to cut the story off before the climax because it must be an unfinished tale.
  • [Alternate Form] *If Applicable* Describe what your character is and any special abilities they have in this alternate form.
  • [Familiar] *If Applicable* Describe what your character's familiar/pet, any special abilities, history, etc.

[*] Creation Requirements
  • Stories must have fairy tale elements. That means, stuff like kingdoms, romance, magic, talking to animals, completing tasks to reach a goal, quests, etc. Characters based on existing fairy tales would be nice, but not required: original fiction is fine as well.
    • For Existing stories: You are 100% allowed to edit the existing story in a manner that makes sense to you (in fact, we HIGHLY recommend you edit your story to make it a derivative of the fairy tale). Also, please use your common sense and judgement when creating the character (eg. do not make a character whose personality is opposite to the life/story he lived).
      • [Example] Katarya is using the story of The Six Swans. She's changed the story so that the main elements are present: There is a princess who has 6 elder brothers. They get turned into birds and she must go through years of suffering in silence to knit 6 shirts for them in order to free them. For the climax, she is about to be burned at the stake when her brothers come flying in and she rescues them with the shirts she knit, and then is rescued by them. However, the shirt of her 6th and youngest brother was incomplete, so he would be forever doomed to have a wing for an arm. -- As you can see, she's kept the main elements that make it recognizable as a fairy tale. -- She changed the parts that had the princess married (with kids) to the King, and in fact, made the King (who supposedly rescued her) into the villain of the story. He was a sorcerer who both changed her brothers into birds and set up her danger from being burned at the stake.
    • For Original stories: We recommend you contact us (by noting the group) before applications open to see if your story passes the "fairy tale" mark. Please do not note individual mods with your questions.
  • If your character is based on an existing tale, he/she does NOT have to be the main character.
    • [Example] Your character can be one of the "stepsisters" in Cinderalla, a main character's brother, an enemy, etc.
  • Your character cannot have come back to death or have power over death. Necromancy/Zombie/Reviving from death is absolutely not allowed. (But if you want a familiar/animal that is a spirit of a dead animal or animated zombie, that's all right, but your character must have nothing to do with how the familiar got re-animated.) If your fairy tale includes something like that (such as Snow White or Juniper Tree), please change it so that "true" death did not occur.
    • [Example] In the tale of the "Juniper Tree," the main character's head is chopped up, body made into stew. If you wish to be that character, you must make sure that some other body part was chopped off and put back together instead.
  • All characters must have UNFINISHED stories.
  • Character countries/worlds can be anything you like. But please make them non-futuristic. We are talking about fairy tales!

[Forgotten Characters]

[*] Creation Requirements
  • You must have a reason why your Character is in the Forgotten Realm. Forgotten Realm characters are ones that were unable to finish their story for a long period of time. You need to provide a reason as to why they were unable to finish their story? Did their country get invaded? Their fiance disappear the day before the wedding?
  • We will not be allowing a lot of Forgotten Characters, so it will be a selective process.
  • Forgotten Characters cannot interact normally with other non-Forgotten characters, so please THINK HARD about it if you want to be considered!
    • Forgotten Characters are unique in that they must try to get out of their status as a Forgotten character. Thus, eventually your character will be able to join everyone else.
